I need to be able to compare foods to the requirements of my whole family, not just me.
My husband can't eat any artificial colors, my daughter is lactose intolerant and I have high blood pressure and cholesterol. It would be great if I could input each persons details and have products come up that would be OK for all of us to eat as well as what… more
Status: plannedWe absolutely agree that this is pivotal! We're anxious to get this going soon on our website to help you meet the needs of each individual member of your household.

Include MSRPs. I make purchases based on health and cost. Include both pieces of info. We need both!
Status: under reviewWe agree that food decisions are based on health, value, and taste. We're working on different ways to allow users to weight these criteria based on what matters most to them..

classify by geographic region
Many of the products are regional while some are national. Identify those that are regional and their region.
Status: under reviewWe know that food availability varies by geography. While it is a somewhat complex problem for us to sort out, it is one that is very important to us, too. In the meantime, we are improving the ability for you to search by brands, which should somewhat help for now.

Consider adding in sustainability criteria to your grading system
I applaud your efforts to focus on creating access to reliable information on how we can feed ourselves in a healthy and nutritious manner, but I was sorry to see recommended foods that are very unsustainable, specifically some of your seafood options. I understand the need to focus your efforts,… more
Status: under reviewThank you for the very thoughtful comment. Many of us here at ShopWell share a similar mentality and hope to be able to include info about food that goes beyond the individual consumer's health. Of course, we want to make sure that the info we provide is as solid as possible. We are focusing on health first but hope to branch out as soon as we feel we can do this in a responsible manner.

it would be helpful to know how the grades are determined
Status: plannedTo work towards being more transparent in our grading, we've modified the wording on our About Us page to help explain our grades. In addition, we're working on giving more specific info about the characteristics that have raised or lowered the grade on a specific product.

create pre-determined, or user-defined product baskets (such as meals) with recs based on prod grp.
I often buy groceries based on meals, and having the nutritional info together (and being able to browse suggestions from SW and/or other users) would be helpful.
Status: under reviewGreat suggestion. We're taking all of these ideas into account as we plan our next steps and will roll new features out over time.

make your saved lists available on the iPhone app
I love the app but was disappointed to find out that after I spent considerable time on ShopWell.com creating my lists, that the app could not retrieve them. Looking up each item at the store is not practical for a mom who has to shop with children. I want my… more
Status: plannedThank you for the note. Yes, we know this is frustrating. We are planning to get to this shortly. Once we have a date, we will let you know. Thanks, again, for giving us feedback.

add pricing to the "sort by" option
even if it is just general data and not specific to stores or regions i think many users would start there instead of by grades.
Status: under reviewWe're looking into ways we can provide pricing information and are working to determine the best way to bring this information to you. Thanks for the suggestion. This is definitely on our minds, too.

have a section to offer alternatives for healthier food choices.
Status: under reviewWe're looking at best ways to utilize our Alternatives section that you'll find on each product page. The current selections show the top-graded items in the category, but we know we have room for improvement and are continuing to update our process for picking good alternatives that are best suited to your personal needs.

Partner with Grocery chains for Home Delivery
Once you all offer meal plans, perhaps you could partner with Grocery chains throughout the country (or perhaps 3rd party services) where by the food could be ordered from your site and then delivered to my door step.
Status: under reviewThis is great feedback. Thanks for the thought. This is something that we are exploring.

you have items listen as not having certain ingredients that clearly do ex: high fructose corn syrup
after looking at ingredient lists there are clearly ingredients in the products that are marked without..ie: corn syrup, wheat (semolina). i was hoping this site would make it easier to go shopping and just pick up items without reading every ingredient list (?)
Status: under reviewThanks for your message. We have filters on the search result pages that can assist you in filtering out those products that contain the items you don’t want or shouldn’t have. After selecting your profile preferences, such as 1) things you don’t want: “high fructose corn syrup” or 2) things you shouldn’t have: “wheat”, you’ll notice the word “hide” followed by the “X” and “Hand” icons in the top right corner of the search results page. Clicking on the “X” icon will filter out your “don’t wants” and clicking on the “Hand” icon will filter out “things you shouldn’t have” from those current results. This will in turn show you the products that do not contain those items. Please give this a try and let us know if this is what you were hoping for. If you used these filters and still see ingredients listed that you did not want to see, please let us know about that as well. Thanks!

Allow users to weight the importance of filters
Can you weight the importance of the various filters to refine the product ratings, ...as not all filters impact purchase selection equally.
Status: under reviewThanks, Rod. Really good suggestion. We've been considering this and are continuously working with our network of registered dietitians to understand the best way to provide this feature. Hopefully, we will be able to provide an update on this feature in the near future.

health benefit filter
With all the attention on foods that provide a health benefit claim in addition to nutrtitional value, have you considered a health benefit filter (e.g. strengthens your immunity; improves eye, heart and brain health; etc.)? And to take this to the next level, it would be great if the ratings… more

This is a great service. However, "flour" shows up as Ok under my "wheat and gluten free" profile.
Status: under reviewThank you for bringing this to our intention. Products with "flour" in the ingredients should be showing the red hand and a score of 0 for profiles with a gluten allergy selected. Could you please include the name of a specific product where you noticed this issue?

Revise the iPhone app to provide better prompts / explanations
Congrats on getting the iPhone app out. The UPC scanner is the obvious win here -- it lets you take ShopWell out into the wild (i.e the grocery story). But I think you need to add some elements to the app that clarify the real mobile use case, and provide… more
Status: under reviewThanks Wade. Your observations about the overall context for use, and how we explain ShopWell to new users is spot on, and we will do our best to address it in a future app update. For this round we were focused on getting basic functionality into the "wild" and learning from the usage data.
